Here's She!

Nishath Sultana is a development professional, human rights activist, columnist, and author from Bangladesh.

Nishath was born in Naogaon district. She is the second child of her parents: A.K.M. Nuruzzaman and Selima Banu. Nishath completed her education at Dhaka University and has since gained diversified professional experience with government and non-government organizations in Bangladesh. Her expertise is in the field of formal and non-formal education, public administration, advocacy, communications, external engagement, gender and development, and community empowerment. She is a columnist at the leading Bangla Newspapers of Bangladesh including the Prothom Alo. Child rights, child protection and gender equality are the core areas of her writing. She writes storybooks for children with meaningful messages and contributes regularly to national children’s magazines. She has been awarded the UNICEF Meena Media Award in 2018 and 2019 for her creative writing for children.

Columnist

Nishath is a regular contributor to the leading national dailies of Bangladesh. Her writings center on child rights, child protection, good governance, equality and inclusiveness. Her writings can be often found in the Prothom Alo, the Samakal, and Amader Somoy.

Nishath is actively engaged in right based policy formulation and amendments. She is a prominent voice in the policy dialogues from local to global platform. She also contributes for the better implementations of the laws and policies through her active engagement with media.

Children's Writer

Nishath’s first book: ‘Nipur Rongin Ekdin’ received the Unicef Meena Media Award in 2018. Since then she has written 18 books for children. The following year, in 2019, ‘Sobar Bondhu Piku’ also received the Unicef Meena Media Award in the creative writing category.
